FOOD FOR THE SOUL or Food For Thought
I would like to share a recipe that I learned form a friend.
Crunchy Fried Mushrooms –
1) A packet of those white flat mushrooms – (dear readers, I love cooking but somehow I just don’t know what these mushrooms are called..J ) You can also use calamari/squid.
2) 2-3 tblsp of sweet fennel powder
3) 2 tspn of pepper – if you like it spicier, add another 1-2 teaspoon.
4) 2 cups of corn starch
5) some salt for taste
6) Enuf cooking oil for frying
7)A pan or wok for frying (duhhhhhh…:p)
Method:
Mix all the dried ingredients together in a a bowl. Stir the egg in a separate bowl. Dipp the mushrooms in the egg mixture and then dipp it in the dried ingredients. Then fry in a medium hot oil. Then eat with my special dipping sauce (see below for the recipe). After you have done with the eating part, wash the dishes yourself..hahaha..
Dipping sauce:
½ cup of that Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce
Coriander leaves –chopped
2 garlic cloves – chopped
2 Tblsp of Apple Cider Vinegar/ artificial vinegar
3 tblsp peanuts – fry it in a non-stick pan (no oil needed) and remove the skin – and ground them up in a blender
2 tblsp of lime juice
some salt
Mix em all up. Enjoy.
If you have tried the recipe above, please send in your comments..hehehe
I’m no culinary Chef but I do enjoy cooking for friends and family. It’s great to see that food (apart from music..hehe) can actually bring everybody together.
Reading a blog from a friend of mine really makes you appreciate food even more. It brings back memories and most of all, it hits your happy nerves. I guess everybody is happy when they eat. And I love cooking and btw, eating is where you connect with people, especially the people that you love. Food brings people closer. Dontcha think so?
